I remember the first time I saw this show, I had just got home from a long night of DJing, drinking and general mayhem, sometime around 2001. Decided to load up the old VCR with some new tapes I had just got from my roommate. I watched it for about five minutes and turned it off, no subs, all Japanese, no way it was happening. Fast forward to last week, the good ‘ol discount used book store had the complete box set for $11, not being one to excessively complain and having a lot of time on my hands I thought I would give it another shot. The chick at the counter assured me there was an English language track and subs, so why the hell not?

Well needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed. I don’t normally watch a lot of newer anime, it annoys me, and the exaggerated style characters have got on my nerves for the past few years. Sailor Moon was kind of a big deal here in Canada, so that might have something to do with it. Well thank god this is nothing like that steaming pile of dog shit. To the left is Haruko, all I can say is that she kicks ass.
She also plays a left-handed AzureGlo Rickenbacker 4001, and its her primary weapon. As a bassist, well this appealed to me very quickly. Rickenbacker’s are heavy as fuck, and would make a great weapon. Plus there’s nothing like throwing around $2000 worth of gear.
She also drives a flying Vespa, and as a scooter nerd, this once again appeals to me… on so many levels. Why the hell can’t I meet a pink haired rick playing, flying vespa alien girl? Dammit…
I guess this was drawn before the series ever existed, and then used later on. It’s really out of place, but then again, she’s sky surfing on her magic bass in a bunny costume, trust me, that the least thing to think about while watching this random insanity unfold in front of you.
Here’s some random screen grabs
Weird TV robot
Once again
Uh… isn’t he like 12 Haruko?
Angry Dad Robot
Now I could go on and on all day, and give out spoilers and such, but I’m not going to. This kicks ass, plain and simple. I wish there was more to it, but in a sense there doesn’t need to be. Six episodes people, that’s it. I loved it. I wish there was more, but at the same time it might actually ruin how great this was. Just sit back and enjoy. I have never been happier…. :D
Rad!
